Guests:

Michael Fuller is here from Chipotle to talk about their green initiatives like locally sourced produce and LEED certified restaurants.

Azure Biodiesel.jpgDan Dykema is here from Azure Biodiesel to talk about how easy it is to make your own biodiesel at home.  You can obtain used vegetable oil from your favorite restaurant, process it in your garage or shop and fill your diesel engine car.  Azure Biodiesel sells processers so individuals can make their own fuel.  Biodiesel is a great way to reuse used vegetable oil while also being much better for the planet.  Biodiesel releases less greenhouse gasses, particulates and carbon monoxide over regular petroleum diesel.  Save money and the planet by manufacturing your own fuel.

Green Info and Tips:

Light Green Tip #192

Inflate Your Car's Tires

By keeping your vehicle’s tires inflated to the proper pressure, you will be increasing your fuel economy and extending the life of your tires, which means more cash in your pocket and more hope for the planet

For every three pounds that your tires are below their recommended pressure, your fuel economy drops 1 percent.  It adds up quickly if you consider most of the millions of cars we have on the road have under-inflated tires.

The science behind the savings is called "rolling resistance," which is a measure of how easily the tire rolls down the road, while minimizing energy wasted as heat.  Flabby tires have higher rolling resistance, which wastes more fuel.
