Pure Rest Organics is an organic line of mattresses and bedding that do NOT contain toxic chemicals. Most people are unaware of the toxins that are currently implemented in mainstream mattress construction that can lead to a number of adverse bodily reactions. Here is a quote from Ginny Turner, the owner of Pure Rest:
"I am Ginny, the owner of Pure-Rest. I live organic. I am the only manufacturer that is chemically sensitive and that makes me diligent about protecting everyone from chemicals. I personally make sure the materials we use are the safest in existence. I have been living and selling organic for 16 years. This is assurance for you to know that I am here to protect you and your family from all that toxic stuff. Synthetic and some natural Mattresses have a slew of chemicals known to be toxic, but they still exist. The plain simple fact is, like all other toxins, unless it is an immediate, acute reaction, it is legal to sell toxic things."

TIPS:
LIGHT GREEN TIP #635: No more PVC shower curtains! That's right... Choose a natural fabric, such as cotton (organic if you can find it), hemp, or bamboo, for your next shower curtain and liner. You know that familiar smell when you open the package and unfold a new vinyl shower curtain? That oh so familiar new shower curtain smell? That's the off-gassing of chemicals from polyvinyl chloride plastic (PVC). One of the chemical additives, DEHP, a phthalate, is a suspected carcinogen and has been linked to hormonal disruption in humans. An EPA study found that vinyl shower curtains can elevate air toxins in your home for more than a month.
LIGHT GREEN TIP #999: Put a cactus by your computer! In the mid-1980s, researchers at the Institute of Geobiology in Chardonne, Switzerland, announced that tests showed employees who used to suffer from headaches and tiredness felt better after working for two years with a cactus next to their monitors. A hypothesis has been suggested that cacti evolved to counter the effects of harsh solar radiation. The science is unproven, but why not play it safe and enjoy a little nature while you work?
DARK GREEN TIP #1245: Thinking about maybe installing a swimming pool this spring? One exciting green design option that is slowly gaining acceptance in the U.S. is the natural swimming pool, which offers a refreshing, beautiful alternative to reliance on chlorine or other toxic chemicals. Natural swimming pools have been somewhat popular in Europe for a few decades (where they are often called natural swimming ponds), and they work by fostering the balance of a small natural ecosystem. Managed properly, natural pools have alpine lake-clear water that requires no chemicals to maintain. They have lower maintenance costs than conventional pools, and their installation costs are typically not much more. The key is to establish a zone of aquatic plants around or adjacent to the swimming area, which filter out contaminants from the water. There are a few companies designing such green oases in the U.S., and it's likely that demand will increase sharply, as more and more consumers take interest in sustainability, and want to avoid industrial chemicals. Chlorine is known to be harsh on skin and hair, and a number of studies have linked inhalation of the chemical by swimmers to increased asthma rates. You can learn much more about natural pools, including how they are built, their history, who installs them, and see some pictures of some sweet natural pools.
