Marjorie Hegstrom talks about Mill City Farmers Market.  The Market was started in June 2006 and founded by Brenda Langton, chef/owner of Spoonriver & Cafe Brenda, John Crippen/ Mill City Museum, Farm in the City, & RiverWest Condominiums. The Wedge Coop provided seed money and Minneapolis based Duffy & Partners donated branding and design services. It was led by Alex Hoag, Executive Director and Marjorie Hegstrom, Market Manager.  Their mission is to promote local, sustainable and organic agriculture, increasing economic opportunities for farmers, urban youth, small businesses and food artisans. To offer experiential learning about and access to healthy local foods, and build a vibrant gathering place for Minneapolis residents and visitors.

Kevin Flynn of EcoDeep architects talks about his own personal remodeling of his St. Paul home and his quest to build green. The entire project was captured on his blog (http://ecodeephaus.blogspot.com/).  This blog is about the design and building of a sustainable house project, a transformation of a 1940's Cape Cod in St.Paul MN of Kevin Flynn and Roxanne Nelson.  Kevin Flynn is the founder and president of EcoDEEP, a company located in St. Paul MN and dedicated to sustainable design.  Listen to Kevin talk about the green building process from the home selection to the solar panels on the roof.  He gives advise for anyone thinking of building and remodeling green.

  • 99 percent of vitamins tested contain lead
    In the course of its investigation, the FDA examined 325 multivitamin products. Only four of them—NF Formulas Liquid Pediatric, Natrol Liquid Kids Companion Liquid, Twinlab Infant Care, and After Baby Boost 2—contained zero traces of lead.

    Although none of the vitamins contained concentrations of lead that exceeded what the FDA considers "safe/tolerable exposure levels," we have to wonder if any quantity of lead is acceptable at all.
